School on Autumn Health Information and Evidence for Policy Creation

28 January–1 February 2019, The Hague, the Netherlands

Autumn School on Health Information and Evidence for Policy-Making is an interactive workshop aimed at increasing the capacity of the countries to collect, analyze, report and use evidence for policy-making.
It will be the sixth workshop organized by WHO / Europe since the inauguration of Autumn School in Izmir, Turkey in 2013. Poland has Autom School in 2014, Russian Federation in 2015, Romania in 2016 and Georgia in 2017. The school is traditionally done in the last week of October. However, since it was not possible to organize a workshop in general time last year, it was agreed that this event will be held in January of 2019.

Participants will find the full series of data from the data collection to the policy recommendations for health 2020 indicators using data from their own countries (as much as possible). It will include discussion and learning about it:

  1. Components of National Health Information System.
  2. Indicators for health and wellness in general public health indicators, and joint monitoring infrastructure.
  3. International Classification of Diseases, 11th Amendment.
  4. The burden of disease methods in the European context: knowledge synthesis and interpretation.
  5. Creative Process to Develop Data Visualization.
  6. To reduce the gap between research and policy-making, focus on translation of tools and good practices and evidence in the policy.
Of course, the purpose of public health experts is to work on the health information and evidence and policy interfaces. Autumn School is organized by the WHO / Europe Department of Information, Evidence, Research and Innovation. This is a significant capacity-building activity of the European Health Information Initiative and WHO is an important implementation tool for health in the European region 2020.
